How will my Chameleon arrive?

Keeping lizards myself as primarily a hobby, I understand how important it is to know how your Chameleon will arrive, and how it is going to get to you! I have recieved lizards via TNT and dedicated reptile couriers and have to say that I have never recieved a dead lizard, or one which was unwell.

Alot of the thanks for this goes to the people I have recieved Lizards off and there excelent husbandry skills, ensuring a healthy and established lizard, able to withstand transportation.

The way in which the lizard is prepared and packaged for transportation is just as important however, and a badly packaged lizard will be under considerable stress whilst in transit.

A Chameleon especially will be less able to cope with stressful transit conditions. When You recieve a Chameleon from us, the following practices are adhered to.

Packaging

Each Chameleon will be INDIVIDUALLY contained inside a larger poly-box which will be of a proportional size.

Each lizard will have a small piece of foliage to perch on whilst in transit. I choose to provide minimal foliage, to minimise movement whilst in transit, which could lead to unecessary injuries whilst the chameleon moves around.

Each individual container will be of an appropriate size to the animal being transported. I choose to use smaller containers as this also minimises the chances of rigourous movement during transit, which could injure the Chameleon.

Each individual container will have one layer of kitchen/industrial absorbant roll lightly sprayed with water to keep a minimum level of humidity/moisture, which is relevent to the Chameleon in transit whilst in transit.

Chameleons will be packaged with a reptile heat pad dependant on the temps to be maintained and the temps outside during transit time. The heat pad will be OUTSIDE of the container which contains the Chameleon/s being transported. If we are unsure of temps during transit a heat pad will always be given to the courier/person who collects the chameleon for use en-route if the need arises.

Chameleons will only be sent via a D.E.F.R.A approved courier. If you wish to arrange your own courier, it is strongly advised that you use one of the many D.E.F.R.A approved couriers that are available. Check which type of liscence they hold, and the legnth of time your Chameleon will be in transit for.

Poly-boxes will be of an appropriate size. ie. if more than one Chameleon is ordered, each Chameleon will be individually packaged, and then each individually packaged Chameleon will be packaged inside a Poly-box which is of a size which minimises movement of each individually boxed Chameleon.

Each poly-box will be secured against unecessary movement in transit by polystyrene packaging chips/balled newspaper/paper. We also create a visual barrier and further security against movement by using card-board sheets inbetween each box containing a Chameleon.

Each Individual container and Poly-box will be new and/or completely cleaned and sterilised before any Chameleon will be placed inside for transit.

Each individual container will be labelled with Species contained, if applicable, Locale contained, age, sex if applicable, weight and who the Chameleon was packaged by.

Each Poly-box will be labelled with the species which are contained inside, the latin and common names to aid in identification should this be necessary and the correct temperatures the species needs to be maintained at for optimal health during transit.

Each Chameleon will come with a Transportation certificate from Chameleoco and care sheets and information relevent to the Chameleon in transit.

The Chameleons

Every Chameleon sent out will be captive bred by us unless expressely stated as otherwise.

Every Chameleon will be 3.5 grams plus when sent out and 2-3 inches.

Every Chameleon will be sexed as stated in the terms and conditions of purchase

We aim not to feed Chameleons from the evening before they are sent out. We do not like to think of the Chameleon soiling its small enclosure during transit, anything which may make the Chameleon move around or uncomfortable during transit is strongly avoided.

Chameleons will be misted approx 1 hour before they are packaged.

Chameleons are packaged in the best of health and are established so that they will thrive under the right care and conditions. We offer a 3 day refund or exchange policy.

We want our babies to survive transit, so nothing is spared. No packaging material or heat pads are added to the price of any Chameleon.
