Skin necrosis

Vetinary treatment is advised, as skin necrosis literally means skin death. Area will eventually appear black as skin and subcutaneous tissue dies. Many things can be responsible for skin necrosis, with fungi and mycobacteria infections being typical culprits in the case of captive chameleons. Other causes such as incomplete sheds, where skin does not come off properly will also result in necrosis of the skin. You may try and bathe the affected area thoroughly with warm water and gently try and remove dead skin. This is not advisable over vetinary assesment and even more so in the later stages.
